Reaching the top of your mountain

mt-shasta

I spend a lot of time reading and searching out inspiring quotes on a daily basis. Today I read one that I wanted to share with all of you.

“The man on top of the mountain didn’t fall there.”
Vince Lombardi

There are successful people around us everywhere. They make it look so easy; it must just come natural to them, right? They must have good luck, or know the right people… wrong.  All we are seeing are the fruits of their success. We are not seeing the actual sweat, tears and hard work they put in daily to achieve their results. We don’t hear their frustration when they have days they want to quit and give up.

Social media can often give us the impression that everyone’s lives are perfect and flawless. It gives us the perception that people who reach their successes do it effortlessly. What we must remember is that we are only giving the world the perception we WANT it to see. How many times have you taken at least 10 selfies before posting it to your Instagram feed to ensure your look is as perfect as you can get it? The same goes for the highly successful. Even the most flawless looking high achievers have bad days. We forget this because we put ourselves in a different category as we are only seeing the best of them online. We often dehumanize these people; which leads to the mindset that we are not capable of achieving our own great results.

You have the option in life to choose to create and reach your goals, IF you are willing to put the work in to get them, no matter how big or small your goal may be.

What are your goals? Have you set out a plan to achieve them? Are they SMART goals, (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely)?

Remember these wise words from Confucius:

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.

Confucius
